Running a company Facebook page is an education. Mostly it teaches you that people will argue about anything, even something as noncontroversial as a metal panel.
As the page admin, it’s really easy to get yourself in trouble when you jump in the comments and that’s really not what we’re trying to do, so lets talk about a few of our recent comments and clear some things up.
“That’s not board and batten, that’s a snap-lock roof panel!”
Nope. Wrong panel, but we get why you’d mix them up.
Board and batten is our MPBatten siding, and it’s built to live on a wall. Vertical lines, striated finish, that classic Hardie look everyone’s chasing right now. It’s 26 gauge steel with a 16-inch coverage per panel.
MP150 is a different animal entirely. That’s our snap-lock roofing panel, with taller 1.5-inch ribs built to shed water off a roof slope, not sit flat, like the battens on the siding panel. It’s rated for slopes as low as 3:12, and it’s tested to UL 2218 Class 4 for impact and UL 790 Class A for fire.
Similiar looks but not the same, different uses. And yes, it can be difficult to see the differences in pictures on the internet but we promise: what you see on walls is not a snaplock roof panel.
“It’s gonna fade purple like the old camo 4 wheelers did.”
We get this on our HD print wood grain line a LOT. And it’s a fair question. If you remember camo ATVs from 1995 fading into some sad shade of lavender, we don’t blame you for being skeptical.
That was a different era of printing. Dye stamped onto vinyl and plastic, and sunlight just tore it apart over time. What we’re running now is a completely different process, printed straight onto steel with UV-stable technology that didn’t exist back then. This coating is HD printed straight onto the steel and UV cured to hold up to whatever mother natures throws its way. This is 2026, times are different, technology is different. If a purple house is just what you’re dreaming of, lets talk about a custom paint run, not speak ill of the wood grain line so near and dear to our hearts!
“Wait, you don’t install?”
We’re a supply house, not an install crew. We cut it, fabricate it, and get it to you fast but when it comes to putting your roof on we’re more than happy to provide you with a contractor listing. Our reach spreads far and wide, though, and we unfortunately dont have a relationship with contractors outside of Indiana. That absolutely doesn’t mean we can’t sell you the steel, we just can’t put our stamp of approval on any contractors we don’t know. However, if you’re outside of Indiana and need some advice we’d still be happy to tell you what red flags to look for when you’re hiring a contractor.
The flag post, because we have to talk about it.
We posted a photo of steel ceiling that one of our customers had designed like an American flag. This was a cool product feature to showcase our patriotism – because you dont boast “American made steel” and not have patriotistm.
An hour later the comments had turned into a full-blown history debate, complete with somebody insisting it was a “foreign corporation wartime flag.”
Sometimes a picture is just a picture. No hidden meaning!
Bottom line
Most of these myths come from good instincts aimed at the wrong product, or old information that never got the memo but regardless, we’re pumped so many people are talking about steel (and honestly sometimes a little bit floored that so many people are stalking about steel.)
