Why Metal

Built to Last. Zero Upkeep.

No Rot. No Paint. No Problems.

Wood soffit warps, rots, and needs repainting. Metal doesn't. Once it's up, it's done — no repainting, no swelling, no pest damage.

Matches Your Metal System

Using the same panels as your roof and walls for soffit means a cohesive color match right out of the coil. No hunting for complementary products from other manufacturers.

Cut to Your Overhang Width

We cut every soffit panel to the exact width you need based on your overhang dimensions. Nothing is standard off the shelf — it's built for your project.

40-Year Paint Warranty

All soffit panels carry the same Sherwin-Williams WeatherXL 40-year paint warranty as every other Indiana Metal panel. The finish holds up whether it's facing the weather or under a covered porch.

Proper Attic Ventilation

Vented soffit keeps your attic breathing. Combine vented soffit intake with ridge or roof exhaust vents for a balanced system that manages heat and moisture year-round.

American Steel

Every panel is fabricated in Bainbridge, Indiana from domestic steel that's coated right here in state. Not overseas. Not a middleman. Made here.

Soffit FAQ

Common Questions

The IRC (International Residential Code) requires a minimum of 1 square foot of net free ventilating area (NFVA) for every 150 square feet of attic floor space — or 1:300 if at least 40% of your ventilation is at the ridge or upper roof. In practice, most builders split this roughly 50/50 between vented and solid soffit, pairing soffit intake with ridge vents for a balanced system. Your local code may have specific requirements, so check with your building department. What matters is that your intake (soffit) and exhaust (ridge or roof vents) are balanced — one without the other won't work.
Solid soffit has no perforations — it closes off the underside of the overhang. Vented soffit has perforations that allow fresh air to enter the attic space, which works in combination with exhaust vents to keep the attic ventilated. Both are available in all three soffit profiles from Indiana Metal. Many projects use a mix: vented panels to meet ventilation requirements and solid panels to fill the remaining overhang area.
We cut every soffit panel to the exact width of your overhang at our Bainbridge fabrication facility. When you order, you give us your overhang measurement and we run your panels to that width — so what shows up on the job site fits without any field cutting or ripping. Just measure your overhang accurately and we handle the rest.
It depends on the look you're after. MPFlush gives you the cleanest, most modern finish — especially popular for barndominiums, porches, and covered outdoor living areas. The vented flush front option takes that further by adding airflow without compromising the smooth face. MP36 is the right call if you want a traditional ribbed soffit that matches your MP36 roof or siding, and it's also available in wood grain. MP36Pro makes sense for wider commercial overhangs where you need more structural span capability.
Yes — wood grain steel soffit is available in both MP36 and MPFlush, including the new vented flush front. Wood grain is a finish, not a separate profile, so you get all the structural and longevity benefits of steel with the look of natural wood. It's an especially popular choice for porch ceilings and accent overhangs. Available colors include Burnt Black and other options from our wood grain line.
